Hello travelers!
I am just back from a week-long trip to northern Italy and Switzerland and thought I would post a very brief note to all travelers who may be passing through the city of Como and who might be wondering whether there are any left luggage facilities there.
Short answer: yes, at the train station Como San Giovanni. If you’re facing the lake, this will be on your left and uphill from the old town. You’ll need to find a small park, which is just in front of the station. There is a rather remarkable monument in front of the park:

Then, you’d need to conquer the steps that lead to the station itself. Once in the station, find the shop that sells train tickets and souvenirs. The young people working there may be a little tired of dealing with tourists, but they will store safely your bag(s), for 5 euros per bag. You’d need to be back by 9 pm to retrieve your luggage. It may not be exactly a service with a smile, but you’ll certainly be smiling when you have that weight off your shoulders, quite literally.
Let me add that the city of Como and the surrounding area are well-worth exploring. I thought 3 days were not enough! But if you are short of time, make sure you see the cathedral (the Duomo), the old town and spend some time taking in the great views of the lake and the Alps. More details to follow soon.
